Review: Iris by Eden Finley

SYNOPSIS:

Mike Bravo. Knights in shining … camo.

Iris
I live for adrenaline. The thrill of the chase. And because I work for Mike Bravo, a private black-ops firm, it’s my job to go into dangerous situations.

But when we’re called in to extract a military team from a hostile situation, the thrill is so much better. Because one of those men happen to be the golden boy from my basic training days.

Brock “Saint” Harlow was a walking Captain America in the flesh. The perfect soldier.

Now my boss wants to recruit him, and I can’t wait to rub it in his face that he was rescued by me. The class clown.

I’m not called Iris “I require intense supervision” for nothing.

Saint
Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. I was raised to be a soldier.

But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go.

Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem.

Isaac “Iris” Griffin.

He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time. I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him.

It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members, and I always follow orders.

But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

REVIEW:

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

I have been not so patiently waiting for Iris’ story since I met him in Eden Finley’s Famous Series. Then my excitement for his story ramped up even more when I saw that a whole spin-off series was in the works for the entire LGBTQ+ team at Mike Bravo. And all I can say is, Iris was worth the wait and I can’t wait to see who gets a happily-ever-after next.

So let’s start with my favorite snarky, master of chaos who lacks a filter, Iris. This man stole my heart with his wit, sarcasm, humor, and outlook on life. The man is just a bright spot of humor and adrenaline and I adored him for it. When a blast from the past pops up in his life, well I couldn’t find a more perfect match. The competitive nature between Iris and Saint runs deep, they both push each other to be better and stronger. They lift each other up all while trying to deny the undercurrent of sexual chemistry between them… until they can’t.

Iris was so much more than the class-clown he is initially portrayed as. And Saint works through his trauma to find where he fits in this whole Mike Bravo family. The secondary characters enchanted me, had me laughing out loud more than once, and had me begging for more. Trav, Zeus, Atlas, Angel, Ghost, Decaf…the list of them goes on and I want stories for them all. Especially Trav whose ‘ex’ makes several appearances and each time left me wanting to know more details.

The budding romance and sizzling sexual chemistry between Saint and Iris is perfectly balanced with endless ops at Mike Bravo, making it hard to put the book down. The team is constantly putting themselves at risk, especially in two dangerous missions, and the action-packed world made for a page turner. Now that Eden has set the stage and introduced the team, I can’t wait to read whoever’s story is next.
