REVIEW:
I have been struggling to get into a book for weeks now, unless it’s a re-read of a favorite, I haven’t been feeling it. But Lucy Lennox just cured me of my book slump, this story was positively delightful. I couldn’t put it down, it was adorable; filled with tender, heartfelt moments, honest feels, and selfless characters who had me falling in love.
I could not get enough of Nine and Cooper, they were such contrasting characters yet they found common ground. Both are struggling and dealing with their own demons and my heart went out to each of them. Nine is such an enchantingly selfless character, who is on his own journey of self-discovery. Then there is Cooper, who is struggling to raise money to fund his brother’s surgery but also just struggling with what he wants to do with his life. These two come together and start renovating a cabin and this where things really heat up.
Over the course of the renovations, against all odds, these two fall in love. They grew so much as characters and had my heart soaring. They were vulnerable, loving and honestly I felt like I was watching their story play out on social media, similar to their fictional romance. Outside of the romance, I enjoyed how they were fixing up a property. As someone who is renovating their house via DIY and watches Shawn James, to see so many of these references in the story had me delighted. Basically, as the story ended, all I could think was I want more.
