Review: Run for Home by Claire Cullen

SYNOPSIS:

Tristan knew one thing for certain—he should never have left his pack.

Ambushed on the way to another wolf pack, Tristan finds himself a prisoner of the hyenas. At first, he isn’t sure who to be more wary of. His captors. Or his hostile cellmate. But Dash, an alpha fox, has good reason to be distrustful. And that reason might just be the cub hiding in the shadows of their cell.

If Dash has learned one thing in his life so far, it’s this—never trust a wolf.

Hours away from escaping to safety with his cub, Dash’s plans are ruined by the arrival of a new prisoner. A wolf who can’t take a hint that he’s not a welcome addition to their cell. But as Dash grudgingly gets to know Tristan, he realizes that he needs the omega’s help if he’s going to keep Maia safe. He can’t trust wolves, but maybe he can trust this wolf.

REVIEW:

I was initially worried this was going to be Zayn’s story but was thrilled to learn that Tristan was getting his chance at a HEA. Tristan’s journey was harsh and unexpected; starting off with immediate action and danger. From the beginning, this story held me captivated and as it ended, all I could think was I hope that there is another book in the series.

Tristan and Dash have an unexpected first meet, inside a prison cell. After escaping, Dash initially was planning to part ways but had a change of heart when Tristan protected Maia (Dash’s daughter). Then a journey to get Tristan home begins and while there are definitely hidden dangers and heartache, Tristan and Dash fall in love along the way. I adored the romance, with Dash being rough around the edges and Tristan being his usual stubborn, cheeky self. When things get too tense, Maia was the perfect little distraction to diffuse the situation and add a level of playful fluff to the story.

The constant drama and tension surrounding the hyenas, wolves, and foxes had me endlessly intrigued. What are the hyenas up to? Are the foxes truly the victims? Is there any way to salvage these broken relationships? I am so curious about they dynamics here and how this will play out. Dash is so jaded from the war and his story was gutting me. While Roman initially butted heads with Dash, I adored how they saw a common factor in Tristan. And Dash’s love for both Maia and Tristan had my heart soaring, the man was willing to give up everything for them. The pack and family vibe is so endearing and as the story concluded, I couldn’t have been more happy for Dash and Tristan.
