Review: Their Blood by Brea Alepoú
It was all perfectly quiet, but Karter knew the shit storm coming was inevitable. It would all be his fault too. It always was. He would probably screw something up and they’d get rid of him, or he would push them too far. It never failed. No matter how much he wanted to believe he had changed, that for once they could handle him, his doubts followed him around. Karter knew that happiness was something that never really lasted.
As those doubts cluttered his mind, he felt the need to run wild and free, to outrun the darkness taking over his mind. A race through the grounds soon turns into a fight for survival.
They must save him. They must claim what is theirs. They will have to destroy any who would dare to take their feisty wolf away.
Blood is pleasure and pain, as vengeance takes over them. The only certain outcome: death.
REVIEW:
I got to be honest, I was kind of disappointed in the plot line of this book. The first book along with the two novellas were an absolute delight. Dark, delicious, and oh so kinky…I was blushing up a storm while utterly entranced by the storyline. Yet this story, while slightly different, was exactly the same as the first book.
Karter and his vampires suffer from endless miscommunication and just a general lack of communication. Then Karter gets kidnapped, goes through trauma, the vampires rescue him, they talk it out and live happily-ever-after. Which for one novel I can understand but the fact that this story was very similar left me disappoint. Now don’t get me wrong, was this book filled with all the witty banter that had me laughing out loud and ridiculously sizzling sex scenes that had me blushing, absolutely. I just wanted more in terms of plot.
We also get a little bit more insight into Finnely, Cambridge, and even King Rheland. I enjoy the overarching storyline about the attempts to overthrow the Vampire King. This plot has me captivated and hooked. I love the suspense, mystery, and endless danger that the story hints to come in future books. Overall, not my favorite so far in the series, but I liked it enough to start the next book.
