Review: His Runaway Mate by Brea Alepoú

SYNOPSIS:

True mates are found in the most unlikely of places.

Logan ran and never looked back. He’s been made a fool once, and he never plans to let it happen again. But now the same someone who made Logan a fool waltzes back into his life, he’s not so sure being a fool is a bad thing, especially if that someone is your fated mate.

For five long years, Indigo has been punishing himself for pushing his true mate away. A grieving mess with a newborn, he thought he did the right thing by denying his mate. But oh how he’d been so wrong. Now he has the chance to be with his mate once more. Will fate let them start all over again, or is it too late

Coffee, Love, forgiveness, and Joy. True love is hard to come by.

REVIEW:

This installment of the series ranks up there as one of my favorites along with Dezi and Kash. I knew it would, Logan has been an intriguing enigma since he was first introduced. He is stupidly knowledgeable in fated mates yet mysteriously, he isn’t bonded.

So we see sneak peaks of Indigo in His Apprehensive Mate, as well as some obvious tension between Indigo and Logan and let me tell you, I was giddy with excitement for these two. I loved the angst and slow burn here. It was clear that Logan had been hurt pretty badly and Indigo had a lot of groveling to do, luckily he had the cutest 5-year-old who Logan couldn’t help but love. The book really drove home the difference between the animal and the man. While their animal sides were all for finally reuniting and bonding, Indigo clearly had to explain his very human side.

When everything is revealed, it was all sad and tragic, my heart went out to both men. But they end up stronger and closer as a result. Their hardships fortified their bonds, and showering Logan with fancy, upscale coffees and sweets definitely helped Indigo’s chances. The whole cat and mouse, will they or won’t they game was enticing and I thought this story was well balanced. Just a heartfelt, tender read that will leave you with a smile.
