Review: Swept Away by Amy Bellows and C.W. Gray

SYNOPSIS:

Tru Willis refuses to feel sorry for himself.

Sure, he’s a barren rabbit shifter who has to spend his heat alone every year. And of course, he’d love to have a mate and children of his own. But he’s too busy nursing wild animals back to health and babysitting his cute nieces and nephews to feel lonely.

Until someone starts leaving gifts on his doorstep. Sweet, handmade gifts that make Tru feel special and treasured. The gifts all smell of alpha–an alpha Tru has never met face to face.

One day Tru finds a letter on his doorstep instead of a gift. In it, the alpha requests to help Tru through his heat. He even leaves a photo of himself, and he’s breathtaking.

But the stranger doesn’t offer anything else. Just one heat. Just a handful of days, and then he’ll be gone.

Can Tru handle giving himself to a man he won’t be able to keep? And if he can’t, does he have the willpower to say no?

REVIEW:

This book was light-hearted, fluffy goodness. It was exactly the type of story I want to read to kick off the new year. Nothing too heavy, no over-the-top dramatics, and a sticky sweet ending.

Tru and Griff are delightful together, once they finally get together. We spend the first 30% of the story with lots of pining and adorable gift-giving courting. The connection between them is so tender-hearted that it didn’t feel like insta-love. Griff, even though known Tru was his fated mate, still took the time to form a deeper connection with Tru. I adored how these two communicated, there wasn’t some big dramatic blow-up where one of them runs off, if they had trouble or confusion, they literally sat down and talked about it! Bravo for mature, adult interactions!

And this doesn’t take away from the chemistry or the feels. Tru and Griff were sizzling together, Griff was just such a perfect mate that his endless care and love had me swooning. I couldn’t get enough of these two and that ending, sigh, it was all just perfect. My heart is so full of all those wonderful fuzzy feels and I am so excited to see this is only the beginning for Rabbit Hollow, so I will attempt to patiently wait for the next book.
