Review: Can’t Say Goodbye by Eden Finley
BRADY
Our quick hellos are followed by drawn out goodbyes.
What started out as one fun night turned into a regular thing none of us ever planned for.
I can’t walk away from Kit and Prescott. Kit is the stern nurturer I need. He’s the caretaker, the solid presence. Prescott enables my wild ways. He’s someone I can have fun with. They couldn’t be more perfect for me.
But come graduation, I have to move across the country, and geography isn’t our only obstacle. Being in a relationship with two men isn’t good for my public image, my brother’s NFL career, or the media frenzy that surrounds my famously queer family.
We have a plan to meet up once a year, but with every reunion, every brief visit, we fall deeper.
There has to be a breaking point, something that will end it for us, or soon it will be impossible to say goodbye at all.
REVIEW:
*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*
I was positively thrilled that Brady was receiving his own book after reading Football Royalty. I was desperate for more details on his salacious threesome but I was not expect this book to put my heart through the ringer. Brady, Prescott, and Kit completely surprised me in the absolute best way.
I loved how Eden tackled navigating the trio, we receive all three of their perspectives but also how they feel and the complexities of navigating jobs, life, and their yearning to be together. While Brady and Kit’s feels early on were fairly clear, it took a while to get Prescott on board. Every hello had my heart soaring and every goodbye had my heart breaking. Brady’s sorrow at goodbye was palpable and his pining had my heart aching. The inner workings of their relationship and dynamics were masterfully done.
But what I truly adored was the realness of this story, Eden made Brady work for his happily-ever-after but that made it all the sweeter when he finally gets it. And the story isn’t without its chaotic moments; I mean this is Talon and Miller’s son (check out Eden’s Fake Boyfriends Series for more on them)… of course they were going to make a few appearances, all of which had me laughing out loud.
I think my only grievance was that I wanted more! The ending felt a little fast and I would have loved a chapter or two where we could see them basking in the well deserved happily-ever-after. The story was just a sizzling journey with a surprising amount of heart.
