Review: Omega from the Beach by Amy Bellows

SYNOPSIS:

Seahorse has been given a second chance at life. But there’s a catch: he can’t create any new memories with the people he loves. Every morning at sunrise, they forget he came back to life.

When Orca, his mate, starts experiencing side effects from the daily memory loss, Seahorse knows he has to leave him behind. Otherwise, Orca could lose his sanity.

But Orca doesn’t want to let Seahorse go. Even if that means making a deal with a dangerous warlock.

All she wants is Orca’s voice. That’s a small price to pay to be with the man he loves. Or so he thinks.

Omega from the Beach is an mpreg romance set in the omegaverse. It’s the second book in the Heron Manor series, and will not make sense unless you’ve read the first book.

REVIEW:

I liked and enjoyed this story, but I didn’t love it like I did the first book in the Heron Manor series. There is a balance to be had in a story between heavy scenes and light-hearted ones and this book felt like one hit after another. Between the constant emotional turmoil and the lack of some details I desperately wanted, the story missed the mark of amazing for me.

Seahorse and Orca were truly put through the ringer in this story, their relationship is the definition of sacrifice. I honestly felt bad for them throughout the majority of the story. Orca is constantly losing those that the loves and the fact that he makes additional sacrifices had me wondering at what point would the sea truly be satisfied? Then there is Seahorse, who once again is every bit as self-less as we thought he was. My heart just ached for these characters who truly seemed to never have peace.

Seahorse and Orca were able to beat the odds and end up together…but again not without sacrifices which honestly some of which broke my heart. And some of which were glossed over and not really explained. I wanted some of the gritty details yet some parts of the story felt like they were glossing over the details and everything was magically resolved. Basically I was left with lingering questions and a few new characters I’d like see closure with. Overall, I enjoyed the story and looking forward to the next one…if there is one?
