Review: Atlas by Eden Finley

SYNOPSIS:

ATLAS
Working undercover at a strip club is not my usual kind of job. If it weren’t a great opportunity to show the Mike Bravo team I can run my own op, I wouldn’t have agreed to it.

When my boss asks me to befriend the biggest gossip in the establishment, the person who knows everything, I’m even more reluctant. Because that happens to be one of the dancers. The only dancer to catch my attention in all the wrong ways.

I need to be professional or I will never prove I’m leadership material.

Only problem is, the guy with the stage name Lemon makes me want to be anything but professional.

LEMON
I’m sick of the new bartender throwing dirty looks my way. He’s as judgmental as he is hot, and let’s just say he’s really judgmental.

I don’t know why he’s working here if he looks down on us dancers so much. He could bartend at a regular club.

But when he saves me from a drunken customer getting too handsy, his attitude suddenly flips, and we find ourselves becoming … friends?

Underneath the judgment, it turns out Atlas is a total sweetheart.

Maybe more caring than anyone I’ve ever met.

I’ve never had a relationship before, but something tells me it could be way too easy to fall for the gentle giant.

REVIEW:

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

This book was completely different from the others in the Mike Bravo Ops Series, and that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I didn’t fall arse over heels for this story like I did with Iris but I did enjoy the book, none-the-less.

In a surprise twist, I wasn’t expecting Atlas to be a big ole cinnamon roll. While he is brooding and judgement; underneath it all, he was the softest boy with a heart of gold. Then there was Lemon, who again took me by complete surprise. He is portrayed as flamboyant, opinionated, and over-the-top but on the inside, he is just an insecure baby boy in need of love and cuddles. Both characters are likeable, it was easy to see why they were drawn to each other. They fit together like puzzle pieces; the banter was sizzling, the chemistry was off the charts, and the sprinkle of heart-to-hearts was endearing.

I think the drama didn’t draw me in. I like the mystery and action, the constant putting the pieces together and chaos being caused by the Mike Bravo Ops team. This story felt more isolated in a way because we didn’t get a lot of the team there and when we did those moments felt glossed over. When things finally started rolling, it all happened rather fast. I wish there was more planning, scheming, and the twist of who done it…I wish that would have been connected prior to when it was. As it felt very obvious to me from very early on. Overall, an enjoyable read but not my favorite in the series…then again, can anyone truly top Iris in my mind? Probably not.
