REVIEW:
My favorite of the series so far, but I had a feeling it would be. Wade and Finn are the definition of enemies-to-lovers which is my absolute favorite trope. From the sexual tension and underlying chemistry to the polar opposite personalities, I couldn’t get enough of Wade and Finn.
Meet-cute these two did not have. More like Wade meet Finn’s resting b*tch face, which sets the tone for 5 years of animosity. While Fate has claimed them as mates, both Wade and Finn fight against it saying Fate got it wrong. And I won’t lie, I was skeptical about these two. Wade is a front of sunshine, rainbows, unicorns, technicolor with an underlying fear of rejection and abandonment. While Finn is browns, beige, boring, rigid, strict, and basically needs to let loose. While these two shouldn’t work, they really do.
The sexual tension between them is palpable, they aren’t lacking in the bedroom; it’s emotionally where they seem to be a mess. I really liked how this story progressed. Wade and Finn both grew leaps and bounds and their first date…I was the definition of heart-eyed emoji. Wade brings life and excitement to Finn’s dull world and Finn grounds Wade’s endless energy. The relationship was delightful to watch play out.
I adored that the banter between these two was the most delicious form of foreplay and the when they finally get things right between them, it had me positively giddy. And this book clearly had some BDSM sprinkled throughout which usually doesn’t work for me but Raiven Matthews navigated it perfectly. I think the only critique I have is there are inner monologues throughout the story that go on for several pages every time that could have been edited out. They don’t contribute to the story and just take me out of an otherwise captivating scene/moment. Otherwise, another great installment and I am off to book 3.
