Review: Crankshaft by K.M. Neuhold
I don’t have time for a relationship, not even with the adorably dorky vet I can’t seem to stop bumping into… *sigh * pass the oil and lube
Between running a garage full of beefed up, gear head mechanics and bailing my idiot brother out of trouble every other week, the last thing I have time for is a relationship.
I’ve tried it too many times, and the ridiculous reasons I always find to end it have become a running joke around the garage. But I’ve learned my lesson. No. More. Boyfriends.
I don’t care how many times Porter falls asleep drunk in my bed or how cute he looks covered in oil smears while I teach him how to fix up the vintage car he has rusting away in his garage, I’m not going to fall for him.
Even if I did, what do a mechanic and a veterinarian have in common anyway?
It’s better if we’re only friends… friends who occasionally fiddle with each other’s crankshafts…
REVIEW:
This book was a super cute spin-off series of K.M. Neuhold’s Four Bears Construction. From the found family comradery and top-tier banter, to the budding romance; it was the perfect read filled with fluffy goodness.
One of my favorite things about this book was the banter among the friends at Bull Mechanics, they had me laughing and grinning throughout the story. And while they are up to shenanigans, they never fail to help a friend in need out. Steele was the perfect owner of Bull Mechanics, he was a little jaded, picky, and rougher around the edges. But underneath it all he was really a gooey marshmallow. Then there is sweet, tender Porter who had a hidden spicy side that totally surprised me. I loved these two together; it was truly the perfect balance of give and take.
Even though neither man truly has time for a relationship with running their own respective businesses, they stolen moments, blooming friendship, and stress-relief quickly morph into more. The pacing of the romance was fantastic, and I adored how the feels snuck up on each man but neither ran from it, in fact they both embraced it. And there wasn’t any big drama or blow out, both characters were mature enough to talk about their feelings.
I loved how drama free the story was and how it was simply about two people finding love. And while the timing in their lives may feel like its all wrong, these two together is just right.
