Review: Egotistical Puckboy by Eden Finley & Saxon James

SYNOPSIS:Book cover for Egotistical Puckboy by Eden Finley and Saxon James, book 1 in the Puckboys Series.

EZRA
Partying, dudes, and hockey. What more could a gay NHL player want?
If it weren’t for Anton Hayes, my life would be perfect.
Not that he affects my life in any way. At all. That would imply I care what the winger from Philly thinks of me.
Which I don’t.
Not even a one-night stand with him can thaw his misplaced animosity toward me.
He says I’m the one with the ego, but he can talk. He rivals me for most egotistical puck boy in the league.
I hate him as much as he hates me. Even if I crave a repeat.

ANTON
When it comes to hockey, I’m all about the game.
I’ve worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l’ve done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids.
My hockey image is one I’ve carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all.
He’s cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he’s the sexiest man I’ve ever known.
We’ll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens.
That doesn’t stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

REVIEW:

This series has been on my TBR for a while, I was hoping to wait till it was completed before diving it. But alas, it seems Saxon wants every hockey team in the league to have an LGBTQ+ member so I decided mine as well start now. It was the playful, light-hearted, sexy read I needed.

If you have previously read the CU Hockey Series, you were already introduced to Ezra, it isn’t necessary to have read it but you are definitely missing out. That being said, Ezra lived up to my shameless man whore dreams. But Eden and Saxon surprised me by adding some hidden depth and heart to this man that had me positively falling head over heels for him. Then there is Anton, who is somewhat of an underdog and somewhat closeted. He doesn’t hide his sexuality but he is so private about it that hardly anyone knows.

Together these two are sizzling, the animosity and tension between them had me a giddy mess as I wondered will they or won’t they. The sexual chemistry morphs into playful banter over egos and even expands into heart-to-hearts. These two just work together, they do what couples should do, lift each other up. I was either fanning myself from steamy scenes, giggling over the snark Ezra and Anton tossed at each other, or swooning at how sweet these men can be when they want to. This whole read was just enemies-to-lovers done right!
