Review: The Silencer by Cora Rose

SYNOPSIS:Book cover for The Silencer by Cora Rose. The first book in the Unexpectedly Twisted series, a rom-com mafia spin-off of the Unexpected series. It contains dark themes and triggers.

When a little harmless flirting at a biker bar suddenly takes a turn for the worse and I find myself at odds with the dangerous Fallen Aces gang, I call on the only man I know who can save me.

Anthony Costello may be a vicious mafia boss with a penchant for violence and torture, but he’s also my best friend’s father and the sexiest man I’ve ever laid eyes on. His buttoned-up demeanor and grumpy attitude only fuel my desire to take him apart. I live to push all his buttons. And though he says he’s straight, it seems Anthony may have a soft spot and possessive streak for this smart-mouthed twink. Because as war between rival gangs escalates, things between Anthony and I start to heat up. And I think I’d rather like to sit on the king’s lap to watch it all burn.

REVIEW:

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

Cora Rose does not disappoint as she dips her toes into writings some dark mafia. I have been patiently waiting for Tatum to get his own story since he was first introduced in the Unexpected Series. To see how things played out with Anthony was an absolute delight.

The story starts off heavy and action-packed and honestly the pace doesn’t slow much from there. Cora did a fantastic job introducing a slew of new characters and a new world without turning it into an information dump. The secondary characters are deliciously deranged and I can’t wait for each of them to get their own stories. I am both intrigued and fascinated by them but most of all, please don’t make me wait ages for Angel to get his HEA.

The chemistry between Anthony and Tatum is off the charts, I love how it was tinged with just a bit of unhinged. And while their relationship is intensely physical, as the story progresses, you get glimpses of the depth these characters have. Anthony’s hidden hobby had me swooning and Tatum is just a ray of actual sunshine. These two just make grumpy-sunshine work. Overall, I didn’t want to put the book down, I found myself enchanted by this new, twisted world and I can’t wait to see who finds love/obsession next.
