Review: Omega’s Fight by Claire Cullen

SYNOPSIS:Omega’s Fight is the third book in the Stormshield series by Claire Cullen and features a fake courtship, a real love, a dragon (of sorts), and the final fight for Stormshield.

The courtship festival has finally come to Stormshield. With his kingdom under threat, marriage is the last thing on Prince Rex’s mind. The solution? Fake a courtship to an omega prince.

Brennan, the forgotten prince of his kingdom, was banished as a child to the icy prison he calls home. When he’s offered the chance to earn his freedom, he grabs it with both hands. His task? Join the marriage circuit and destroy the kingdom of Stormshield.

When fate conspires to throw Brennan into the path of Prince Rex, he’s happy to use their fake courtship to cover his real purpose—to find and sabotage the kingdom’s magical shield. But there’s a reason why he was banished and why he’s the omega chosen for such a difficult task—he’s cursed.

The more time Rex spends with Brennan, the more he’s drawn to the omega. Brennan is the only bright spark in a month of pointless pomposity. But it’s hard to focus on matchmaking when Stormshield is in danger from persons unknown.

As Brennan’s plans come to fruition, he finds it’s not as easy as he believed to destroy those people he’s come to care for. With his freedom at stake, Stormshield’s very survival on the line, and his growing love for Prince Rex, he’s torn. Does he choose his freedom or his heart? And if he gives up his secret—his curse—his freedom isn’t the only thing at stake.

REVIEW:

I both loved and hated Omega’s Fight. In terms of romance, it was not my cup of tea. This is more of a me problem than anything else, but I am not a forgive and forget type of reader. In terms of plot, political playouts, and final show down; it was a delight.

Now lets talk about the romance which really starts with Brennan who baits Rex in only to trick him and almost bring down all of Stormshield in the process. And if there is one thing my petty butt hates, its backstabbing characters. Now, is there more to Brennan than it seems, absolutely but did he still lie and deceive…100%. And for me, that was unforgiveable. He didn’t deserve a second-chance, he was a traitor to the kingdom and I would always be second guessing his loyalty.

Now in terms of the plot which I have separated for the sake of this review not being a thesis on how he did Rex dirty, I like the storyline. I enjoyed the twists to Brennan that made him valuable. He did have a hidden inner strength and determination which was admirable. My jaw was on the ground when the last ditch attempt for power by the alliance was revealed. It was the plot twist I was not expecting. And the ending provided me with closure to peacefully sleep at night. But I am still keeping one eye on Brennan.
