Review: A Vigil in the Mourning by Hailey Turner
SYNOPSIS:

REVIEW:
This book was a lot of feels, good and bad it took me on the emotional rollercoaster. My knowledge on mythology is limited but that isn’t stopping me from enjoy the absolute chaos the gods are creating.
I want to start off with the one thing I didn’t like about this book and that is the classic mid-series separation. I hate it when our main characters are separated for periods of time, in this case Jono and Patrick were separated due to work. It all feels unnecessary and as a reader I personally don’t care for it. Then layer on the Jono secret keeping aspect and I was high key annoyed for a good 30% of the story.
But then they reunite and I had to brace myself for the onslaught of action, plot twists, and epic fights. I could truly not predict the layer of plot twists revealed in this story. But there was one (revealed by a necromancer) that left me reeling. I adored the mischief of the story and how it kept me on my toes. Even now I still don’t know how things will play out in the long game. And I positively adore that, even Wade is starting to grow on me, his need for snacks do break up a lot of tense moments.
My only complaint going into the next book is Estelle and Yossuf still haven’t been dealt with. Here’s to hoping we get some answers in the next book or gruesome murders of characters I don’t like! I’m flexible like that.
