Review: Arrogant Devil by R.S. Grey
SYNOPSIS:
Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.
When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.
My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.
Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.
Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.
Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.
Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.
Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.
REVIEW:
Oh the feels, this book was too cute. I adored everything about it and while it started off a little slow, it didn’t take long for me to be sucked into the adorable story of Jack and Meredith.
The plot has the perfect amount of drama. A dismissive, cheating, abusive, lying ex-husband who can’t seem to take a hint and Meredith who completely grows and does a 360 over the course of the story. Her character evolution was beautiful, she found her voice and herself and I can’t gush about how inspiring it was. A stunning transformation and she still managed to keep that big heart of hers full of hope (most of the time).
Jack was all the levels of swoon, cowboy characters are new to me but d*mn, I think I need to check out some more cowboy romances because I was here for it! Jack is Meredith’s perfect counter in every way, He was hard, rigid, and angry at the world and Meredith balanced him with softness, kindness, and determination. They were such a slow burn, I thought I was going to combust before a kiss happened! But it was so worth the wait!
But the real star of this story is Jack’s meddling grandmother, Edith. I don’t know what it is but I have a soft spot for meddlesome grandparents. Edith was hilarious and added much needed comic relief to tense and hard conversations. I just love old, nosey people, they really are my favorite. The story was wonderful, my heart is full, and a smile is on my face. Really, what more could I ever want from an R.S. Grey book?
