Review: Darkest Sinner by Rachel Van Dyken

SYNOPSIS:

I’ve always known pain. Existence. Night.
Made a sinner.
Without a soul to keep me tethered to the world I so desperately want to be a part of but am damned to rule…
Life isn’t living.
Not when everyone sees you as enemy number one, King of the demon race and yet something much more… powerful and sinister pulses beneath the surface of my skin.
It started when I met her, the power surging under my fingertips like the cruel universe was finally answering my screams at night for something more.
And just like that, the memories come, only I don’t know if they’re mine or someone else’s entirely.

Long ago, I made a bargain with a god.
A soul for a soul.
I spent thousands of years without this awareness and now?
Everything I touch turns to ash.
Even my own immortal friends fear what I am.
Everyone but her. The day to my night.

Part of me doesn’t want to know what I am.
But it’s too late, too all-consuming.
Darkness is coming.

That darkness, I’m afraid. Is me.

Oh be still my heart for I am having ALL THE FEELS. Timber’s story was 100% worth the wait. Darkest Sinner was absolutely tantalizing, rich, complex, and left my heart swelling with happiness. I never anticipated the plot twists. I have actual goosebumps as I finished the story and the best part is…there are more books to come!

Timber was delicious! I have been low key keeping an eye on him since he was introduced and watching his story unfold had my heart racing. I loved how his journey was a puzzle and a race against time. Timber’s character arc might just be my favorite yet. His missing history is pieced together, he learns who he truly is, but most all, he falls in love. *cue the swoon*

Kyra was a fantastic character, I loved her quirky attitude and her natural draw to Timber, even though she doesn’t know why…yet. She grows so much throughout the story, learning her inner strength and her own heritage. I adored the undeniable chemistry between Timber and Kyra, they were sizzling and there was a delicate balance with enough tender moments that this love didn’t feel instantaneous.

The gang is all back and causing chaos, as to be expected and I was obsessed. Filled with laugh out loud hilarity, smart remarks, and utter sass, I couldn’t put the book down. There is just something about a love story that spans the length of time. I will just be here floating on a delicious book hangover if you need.
