Review: Fated Mates and Where to Find Them by A.J. Sherwood

SYNOPSIS:A book cover that says Fated Mates and Where to Find Them by A.J. Sherwood.

Zander is in an auction house for the sole purpose of getting someone to sign a contract. He doesn’t have any interest in owning a blood slave—until he lays eyes on Max. That, he must have.

Max is there for reasons of his own, mostly desperate reasons, and he’s braced himself for a year of hell. Which doesn’t seem to be forthcoming.

Someone needs to explain to this vampire that he’s supposed to use Max, not spoil him. Zander doesn’t seem to get it.

REVIEW:

This was a light, quick palette cleanser type of read. It was a fast story, filled with more drama than sexy times but also plenty of fluff and characters. I didn’t love it, but I also didn’t hate it. It’s the type of story that is enjoyable but won’t linger with you once you put the book down. Which honestly, sometimes you need those kinds of books.

That being said, I enjoyed the pacing of the romance between Zander and Max. I appreciated the fact that Zander earned Max’s trust and put in the work of getting to know him while showering him with gifts. Their romance, while superficial was very sweet. The injuries with Max’s father felt like a sort of after-thought throughout the story, and felt unnecessary to the plot. I enjoyed the drama and characters enough that I will probably check out the prequel to this story when it comes out.
