Review: His Dangerous Omega by Raiven Matthews

SYNOPSIS:

Jamie Sinclair
Meeting my fated mate in the middle of a top-secret assignment hadn’t been ideal. Nine years ago, he’d disappeared without a trace, and everyone assumed he was dead. Except me. I foolishly believed we would see each other again. I just didn’t expect him to turn up with a trail of dead bodies in his wake, or a child who could be my double. Despite the years that separated us, the anger, and the deceit, one thing remained – my love for him.

Sebastian Hollingsworth
My entire relationship with my fated mate was built on secrets. Nine years ago, I’d needed to disappear for my own safety. When my life was once again threatened, I’d run to the one man I knew would protect my son with his life. What I hadn’t expected was the burning anger I saw in his eyes when he looked at me. Or to realize that despite the secrets and our short time together, I had somehow fallen in love with him and had never stopped.

Was there a chance for us to build something real when everything between us had been lies?

REVIEW:

Hands down my favorite of the series. The espionage vibes, action-packed beginning, hidden betrayals, and roads to redemption drew me in and I couldn’t be bother to put the book down. Add in the fact that Sebastian was a HONEY BADGER, and I was sold!

So we start with their unconventional meeting, which happens at the absolute worst time. The story starts off by taking us through their history and to present day, where Sebastian is still ‘on the run’ and constantly looking over his shoulder. I loved the balance here, it was the perfect amount of backstory, mutual pining, and mystery. How did they end up here and how were things so broken? I found myself utterly captivated by what an absolute bad-*ss Sebastian was. Like the man took down alphas that were double or triple his side and I loved what an enigma he was. Not to mention, Sebastian was a honey badger shifter, which I have never read before and honestly, that is a crime…we need more honey badger shifters!

Then there is our wonderful kink club owner, Jamie, who had so much more depth to him than I previously gave him credit for. He really evolved over the course of the story and I loved his journey from jaded ex-agent to lover and parent. But getting to that HEA was a journey. Lots of feels, lots of heart-to-hearts, and the perfect amount of steam and meddlesome 9-year-old to break it all up.

I adored the pacing of the story, starting off with all the action and then fading into healing and romance. The relationship between Sebastian and Jamie isn’t overshadowed by the tension. Things flowed so smoothly and I couldn’t get enough. Needless to say, I am thrilled to see Gabe and Asher are getting a story because I desperately want more.
