Review: His Gingerbread Omega by Raiven Matthews

SYNOPSIS:The book cover for His Gingerbread Omega by Raiven Matthews, a MM omegaverse Christmas romance.

Nik Kringle
Bah humbug! Being the son of Santa wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Having no desire to follow in daddy dearest’s footsteps, I left Santa’s Village and never looked back. Unfortunately, my life’s goal of avoiding all the merriment associated with Christmas became next to impossible when my boss ordered me to ride on our company float in the town Christmas parade. The only silver lining is spending more time with my secret crush, Keegan, an omega who smells like gingerbread. The cute barista’s smile lights up my world brighter than any Christmas star. Too bad he practically breathes Christmas cheer, while I would rather forget the day exists. When Santa’s head elf appears demanding I return home–a mistake, or maybe fate–lands both myself and Keegan back in Santa’s Village. Now I’m dealing with disappointed parents, a grumpy elf, obstinate reindeer, and an omega with an unexpected heat. Who just might also be my fated mate.

Keegan Mallory
Christmas was my favorite time of year!

Making gingerbread houses, baking cookies, and singing Christmas carols with my family are traditions I look forward to every single year. Riding on my company’s float in the parade was supposed to be the kickoff to my holiday festivities. Being magically transported to Santa’s Village by a seven-foot-tall, grumpy elf definitely wasn’t on my to-do list. Now I’m stuck here for a week with the alpha I’ve been crushing on for months. Nik Kringle is sexy and mysterious, but he’s an unapologetic grinch. He’s also Santa’s son! Nik says when he takes me back to the human realm, I won’t remember any of this. Not the village, his famous parents, the ice-skating penguins, or him. When my heat unexpectedly hits, Nik and I give into the desire we’ve been dancing around for months. How can I be expected to return home, leaving my fated mate behind, without any memory of him? Will Santa grant me a last-minute Christmas wish?

REVIEW:

This story was fluffy Christmastime goodness. I adored how light-hearted this read was, leaving me craving Christmas cookies with a cheesy smile on my face.

The contrast between Nik and Keegan is my absolute favorite, they are complete polar opposites. If this book isn’t the definition of grumpy-sunshine romance, I don’t know what is. But they work so seamlessly together and while the majority of the story takes place in the span of about a week, it didn’t feel rushed. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and they have been dancing around each other for months. Keegan helps Nik work through some jaded feelings from his youth and Nik will always catch Keegan when he falls.

I adored the balance and sprinkle in all the Christmas magic in Santa’s village? It was the escape read I was looking for, the omegaverse factor is just icing on the cake. And if you have read Raiven’s Sweet Alps Series there are cameos from some of my favorite characters, and I couldn’t have asked for more.
