Review: IRL: In Real Life by Lucy Lennox & Molly Maddox

SYNOPSIS:

Conor:
It starts with a drunken text pic. The kind I would normally never send. Only, instead of it going to the flirty hotel bartender, it goes to some random stranger who actually responds.

I tell myself an unexpected night of hot as hell back-and-forth is the perfect way to blow off a little steam while I’m in New York closing an important business deal. Little do I know the man on the other end of the line is none other than Wells Grange: the most controlling, egotistical, emotionless SOB I’ve ever met.

I spend my days squaring off against Wells in the boardroom, and my nights succumbing to the sexy stranger’s commanding texts in the bedroom. Within days, I’m falling for someone I shouldn’t, and I have to remind myself that none of this is real.

Wells:
The first thing I notice about Conor Newell when he sits down in my high-rise conference room is how delightfully nervous he is. Then I see his tie. The same geeky tie that’s held hostage on my phone. The one that belongs to my anonymous late-night texter. And it changes everything.

I should confess. Tell the truth about who I am. Instead, I decide there’s no harm in flirting. After all, once our business is concluded, he’ll be out of my life for good.

The more I get to know Conor, however, the more I start to fall for him. Which is a problem, because I made a vow long ago to never let emotions interfere with my life, either business or personal. Except I can’t stop thinking about him night and day. If it’s only in my head, though, it doesn’t count.

After all, it’s not like we’re falling for each other in real life…

REVIEW:

It has been a minute since I wrote a review…and I feel like it’s only fair that I start out the new year and my 2020 reading goals with a laugh out loud read…thankfully my friend recommended Lucy Lennox. This is my first time reading this author and I can definitely say, I am going to devour her books. Sizzling chemistry, unique and sexy story lines, complex characters and hilarious banter had me cheesing and blushing…which is exactly how I want to feel when I read (99.8% of the time).

Conor and Wells were two men after my heart. They complemented each other so well. While Conor is all tender heart, bashful, shy, and nerdy…Wells is his delicious opposite. Wells is hard edges, harsh personality, alpha male, oozes sex appeal, and cue the swooning! Over the phone these two are sexting up a storm, seriously I was blushing so hard but Lucy balances it out perfectly with their reality. And while the story starts off with these two as mysterious strangers, it quickly escalates into so much more.

While Wells is demanding and giving orders to Conor over the phone, in the office it is a completely different story. Conor is just trying to do right by his ailing mom by closing a business deal for her. Things heat up over the phone and in real life, and at that point I was waiting with bated breath for the ball to drop. When truths are revealed…lets just say things get heated. Conor and Wells both have to compromise and forgive wrong doings to make this work.

This is the type of book that I hug when I finish. Was the story line somewhat predictable, yes. Did it take away from how great the book was, h*ll no! These characters have such a depth and charisma to them that I couldn’t help but fall in love. And with that I am off to read Lucy Lennox’s backlog of romances.
