Review: King Me by Lucy Lennox
SYNOPSIS:

The key to being a good art thief is knowing when to call it quits. After one close call too many, I decide that time is now and head home to Hobie, Texas, intending to hang up my lock picks for good. Unfortunately, the FBI has other plans. Agent Dirk Falcon approaches me with an offer I can’t refuse: full immunity for my past crimes in exchange for helping him with one last job.
The catch? The job involves stealing from the very man who taught me everything I know. The same man who double-crossed me years ago. Pulling this off means trusting Falcon and his team, but how do I trust the sexy agent when he’s staked his career on taking me down?
REVIEW:
I was consumed by King’s story. My one book weakness is heist stories, I am obsessed with them and they are few and far in between. But to randomly stumble across this plot line in a series I am binging was a real treat.
Falcon has spent years pursuing King and trying to catch him in the act. And these years of history together in this cat and mouse game was the sweetest foreplay. They know of each other and have been orbiting each other for years. Falcon missed his chance once and he isn’t about to let King slip through his fingers again. But neither were expecting the explosive sexual chemistry between them.
I think this is my only quirk with the story, it was very much a case of insta-love. I wished their relationship had more substance to it than jumping into bed together and then over the course of a few days falling in love. Falcon knew much more about King than King did about Falcon and this left the relationship a little out balance. They did share some vulnerabilities and hard truths, which made their love seem more tangible, but I just wish there was more of a build up and substance to their relationship.
The heist was done well, I liked the twists, turns, and roundabout game of deception. The endless history being portrayed sent me on a deep dive on the internet. Both Falcon and King were keeping secrets and reasons from each other. Falcon wanting his work promotion and King wanting his revenge. Ultimate, the undercurrent in the whole story is trust. Who to trust and who not to trust? The ending was adorable and had me grinning from ear to ear. I wish there was a little bit more closure in regards to the heist but overall it was delightful read.
