Review: Made Marian Shorts by Lucy Lennox

SYNOPSIS:

The Marians aren’t the only ones finding their happy ever after! In this collection of four short stories, some of our beloved secondary characters from the Made Marian series steal the show and find a love of their own. These stories range from 7k to 10k words and feature plenty of laughs, Marian cameos, and steamy nekkid bits. A suggested reading order can be found in the Look Inside, but you do not need to have read any other Made Marian novel to enjoy these stories. Please be aware that two of these stories can also be found in the Made Marian Collection bundle.

Brad’s Story:When Brad opens his Vegas hotel room door to find a hot police officer waiting on the other side, he assumes crazy Aunt Tilly has sent him a strip-o-gram. But instead of getting naked, Detective Gorgeous pulls out his cuffs. Turns out, the badge and uniform aren’t just props, this cop is the real deal.

Beck’s Story:After touring around the world, sleeping with fans after sold-out concerts, Beck is still unsatisfied in the bedroom. Men, women, men and women? He doesn’t know quite what he’s looking for when he enters an exclusive club to find some company for the night. But two sexy strangers begin dancing with him at the same time, and Beck finally begins to realize that it might not be variety he’s after, but just the right set of lips whispering sexy words into his ear.

Keller’s Story:After telling Tilly to back off her attempt at setting him up, Keller catches sight of the nude model for the old lady’s art class. Did he speak too soon? Meanwhile, stand-in model Eli is regretting his decision to strip down for a group of senior citizens, but then meets the manager of the vineyard and realizes being naked might not be so bad after all. Especially when things get wet… like really very wet… with hoses.

Josh’s Story:After moving from Denali, Alaska, to San Francisco in order to branch out, Josh hosts a big poker night for the Marians and his co-workers at the National Park Service. Little does he know, his own true love may not be someone new after all. Eight years ago, Cyrus Dimakos had to leave the love of his life to take care of his great-grandmother on a remote island in Greece. A family obligation may have kept Cyrus’s body away from Josh all this time, but his heart never left him. Could it be that The One That Got Away is finally back for good?

REVIEW:

Brad’s Story
I was glad Brad got a story but I was low key hoping he would end up with Keller, alas that is not the case. Yet I am not sure how he wound up recruited by a bunch of crazy, old ladies to chauffeur a Vegas trip. A weekend filled with endless sex and then a long distance relationship ensues. I was glad to see Brad get an HEA and even more excited that these old ladies were the ones to make the whole meet cute happen.

Beck’s Story
In a surprise twist, I actually really enjoyed this brief, sexy hook up. While Beck getting a story was rather random, as he was barely mention and his bisexual was an off handed comment in Jude’s story, I enjoyed the encounter he has with Quinn. They are both just looking for a hook up in an exclusive club. The story was super sexy and their chemistry so explosive, they decide to go on a date. Plenty of sexy times, no rushed romance or insta-love, and hope that Beck finds and HEA with Quinn down the road.

Keller’s Story
Keller’s story had so much potential and honestly out of all the spin-offs, I was looking forward to his the most. But then we had to hard core push the crazed Granny agenda again and it is getting so old so fast. Like I get it, if you are trying to break up sexual tension or whatever, you try to add humor but whoever told Lucy Lennox these old ladies were funny, LIED. The hook-up was cute, it had enough build up and chemistry but their was no depth and ended abruptly. So I guess they are happy-for-now and going to try dating long distance? The story lacked closure, if we could delete the Grannies and give me more substance, I’d be 100% on board.

Josh’s Story
I was confused as to why Josh was even getting a story, seeing as he wasn’t exactly a memorable character. But this spin-off lacked serious substance. Josh is pinning for his high-school sweetheart and literally waits 8 years for him even after he broke his heart? This is where I have issues with second-chance romances. As soon as Josh sees Cyrus he basically jumps back into bed with him and they ride off into their happily-ever-after. I find it hard to believe that neither character changed over 8 YEARS! We even find out the half-*ss reason Josh was so into Jamie, overall this left me feeling very meh.
