Review: The Raging Ones by Krista & Becca Ritchie

SYNOPSIS:

In a freezing world, where everyone knows the day they will die, three teens break all odds.

Franny Bluecastle, a tough city teen, dreams of dying in opulence, to see wealth she’s never known. Like the entire world, she believes it’s impossible to dodge a deathday.

Until the day she does.

Court Icecastle knows wealth. He also knows pain. Spending five years in Vorkter Prison, a fortress of ice and suffering, he dreams of life beyond the people that haunt him and the world that imprisoned him.

Mykal Kickfall fights for those he loves. The rugged Hinterlander shares a frustrating yet unbreakable connection with Court—which only grows more lawless and chaotic as their senses and emotions connect with Franny.

With the threat of people learning they’ve dodged their deathdays, they must flee their planet to survive. But to do so, all three will have to hide their shared bond as they vie for a highly sought after spot in the newest mission to space. Against thousands of people far smarter, who’ll live longer, and never fear death the way that they do.

REVIEW:

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

First off, why did no one tell me there is the most beautiful male/male romance tucked inside this epic fantasy?! Seriously, my heart cannot handle how fantastic this story was. This book was EVERYTHING! It had all the delicious components I want in a YA fantasy, forbidden romance, scorned heroes, alternative worlds, alternative points of view, and a flawless balance that had me transporting into this purple skied, frosty planet.

I am having a lot of feels writing this review but most of these feels are for Court and Mykal…seriously my heart is ready to burst. These sweet, precious babies captured my heart and have held it prisoner. They are so tender, loving and adorable. They contrast and compliment, all the while trying to deny their feelings till they accept. And let me tell you, when the first real kiss happens at 69%…it was worth the wait! *fans self*

The plot was fast paced and action packed. I can’t remember the last time I picked up a book and got pulled in so quickly. From the harsh landscape, to each character’s baggage and backstory I couldn’t put the book down. It’s a high stakes game these characters are playing, one that if caught could end with deadly consequences.

It was an effortless read, as if Krista and Becca Ritchie have been writing YA fantasy their whole lives. Secrets are revealed, plot twists are neverending, and the huge cliff-hanger at the end had me quickly picking up book 2. It was truly a masterpiece and I can’t wait to read more on these characters that have captured my heart.
