Review: The Virgin Roommate by Alexa Riley

SYNOPSIS:

Gia Fisher comes from a big, all-up-in-your-business family. They all love each other and they come with good intentions. She’s kept her boyfriend Marco at a distance, however, because she didn’t want them to drive him away. But she’s head over heels and tired of hiding her love.

Marco Taylor knew Gia she was the one for him the moment he met her. She’s keeping him away from her family and he can’t blame her. He doesn’t come from anything special and in the past he’s had a run-in with her brothers. He’s not good enough for her, but he can’t let her go.

REVIEW:

GUYS THE COVER IS SPELLED WRONG…Another Alexa Riley book from the Read Me Romance podcast and I think I just need to come to terms with the fact that their contemporary romance work is not for me. I want to enjoy the story, the concept sounds okay, the narrators were great, but I just can’t seem to connect with their writing and the characters.

The plots lack the drama and tension. I want to get to the know the characters, I wanted to feel connected to them while following their stories. Yet, I feel like their is a chapter of fact dumping about the characters and I am not learning about them through meaningful conversations and discussions. The sex scenes are more detailed the scenes where you learn about the characters…which isn’t what I want in a story.

As always, Alexa Riley writes scorching hot scenes. While the characters did move fast, it didn’t have the insta-love feel. But overall I am just meh about the story. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, moving on.
